Agriculture drives a $9 billion economic engine in Oklahoma. Oklahoma ranks in the top ten nationally for cattle inventory, wheat production, and broiler chicken production. Oklahoma ranchers feed America, and foreign beef labeled "Product of USA" undermines them at every turn.

Country of origin labeling: restore the truth

In 2015, Congress repealed mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef and pork under pressure from multinational meatpackers. Foreign beef from Brazil, Australia, Canada, and Mexico enters the U.S., processors process it here, and it carries the label "Product of USA." Oklahoma consumers and Oklahoma producers both get cheated.

Ron will push to restore mandatory COOL. Only animals born, raised, and slaughtered in the United States carry the "Product of USA" label.

Protecting Oklahoma ranchers from market manipulation

Four companies control over 80% of fed cattle processing. Ron will support USDA enforcement of the Packers and Stockyards Act to prohibit anti-competitive buying practices that suppress Oklahoma cattle prices. He will support federal grants and loan guarantees for independent, mid-size beef processing facilities in Oklahoma.

Water rights

Oklahoma water is Oklahoma's most valuable long-term asset. Ron will oppose any federal regulatory scheme that expands federal jurisdiction over intrastate water bodies, groundwater, or irrigation infrastructure. He will work to enforce existing water compacts in Oklahoma's favor.

Foreign farmland ownership

Support legislation banning entities from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and other designated adversary nations from purchasing agricultural land in the United States. Require mandatory divestiture of existing holdings within three years. Expand CFIUS review authority to include agricultural land purchases.

Farm regulatory relief

Oppose EPA regulations that drive up input costs for Oklahoma farmers. Support full elimination of the federal estate tax on agricultural property to prevent forced land sales when Oklahoma farm families pass operations between generations.
